Don't mean to speak ill of the dead but I always thought of him as boring and a bit of a dick.

If he was a pundit today WHO would hate him, he did talk total bollocks most of the time to be fair.

A Legend. He did so much good for the game. Didn't agree with everything he said but he was always able to back it up with an eloquent argument. RIP The Chin

Blimey, I didn't realise he was that old. He did a lot for the game. He introduced the 3 points for a win rule and did a lot to stop the maximum wage. Nowadays footballers earn obsene amounts but it wasn't always that way.
RIP.

RIP Jimmy Hill. A football legend. I grew up with Jimmy Hill on MOTD and remember when all us kids would rub/stroke our chins saying 'Jimmy Hill' whenever someone told a lie or a bit of bullshit. Did anyone else used to do this?

Re: Jimmy Hill - Hovis

I used to see him play when I was a kid, as I lived near Fulham and Chelsea's grounds; a short ride on the district line. Tosh Chamberlain and Johny Haynes also played in that team. Most of the punters at Fulham in those days seemed to by off duty bus drivers, conducters or railway workers who spent the whole match moaning.
As a pundit he talked such a load of bollocks, but he wrote the almost Hamersteinesque lyric to Rule Brittania which went:
Good old Arsenal, We're proud to say that name. While we sing this song, We'll win the game
RIP.

Did more positive things for the game of Association Football than people like Blatter, Platini and all those other parasites could ever hope to achieve,
Thanks, Jim.

Jimmy was always a bumbling old man talking about football, and actually he did a decent job for the game.
R.I.P Jimmy Hill.
